Picking up a copy of the COMPASS you might think “WOW! These folks really got their act together!” It is a beautiful thing. We love it. We hope you love it. However, you should know that currently, a mere handful of volunteers distribute the Compass stacks you find at cafes, clubs, shows etc… That system is just unsustainable. We have designed a new system and made it easier to help spread the love. Over the next couple months we’ll feature a map with numbered circles where we currently distribute. Do you live or work near one of these circles? Could you spare a half-hour each month to drop Compasses at a few (5-10) places? Join the brand new Distro team! ([email protected]). – James Moore

Those dastardly fun noise boys in DESIGNER are back from crazy tour time with a brand new 7” PRETTY BOY MYSTERIOUS on JP’s own BUFU Records. This hot slab of wax slobbers and grinds right out the gate, pounding away at your bloody eardrums with the manic groove of a dog with a bone dripping with lysergic acid. Incoherent psycho babble bubbles and foams as the zombie funk punk groove steadily tightens like a vicious vice. Its all fun and games for these pretty punk goons. Pick one up at your local record store or on the interwebs at BufuRecords.com. -Chris Collins

Totally Not Over “Over It”: Fleabite’s New Tape & Spring Tour
Bugs come out when it gets warm, and as we settle into Spring, crackly-pop powerhouse FLEABITE is making some shit happen in a big way. The band will join their Western, MA sistren Pottymouth for a week of shows extending over a westward stretch of the U.S, starting 5/10, while simultaneously dropping their first tape via Brooklyn queer & girl-punk institution Puzzle Pieces Records. Their snarky short player “Over It” is 6 tracks of bubbly, moody pop and roll that balance the feel-good with the feel-weird in perfect turn. Pick it up at a show or record store of proper repute. – Zach Peckham

LIARS & BELIEVERS’ Show ICARUS Now Playing @OBERON
Immerse yourself in grimy dust-bowl Americana and brush up on your ancient mythology at the same time. OBERON Artists in Residence LIARS & BELIEVERS bring experimental music theatre and invisible monsters to Harvard Square this month. ICARUS, their latest fable, takes the notorious myth (wings, wax, and flying too close to the sun — you know the one), sets it in a Depression-era traveling sideshow, then twists it ‘til it’s not Greek anymore. You’ll get your fill of fiddle-and accordion-fueled song, specialty moonshine drinks, carny magic, junkyard puppetry, and yes, flying. 5/1-5/11 7PM $25-$35 @OBERON LiarsandBelievers.com – Rusty Vineyard

Did you know BOSTON HASSLE has a website? Well now you do. They are now recruiting Boston’s finest front end devs to bless this mess. Experience in wordpress is the prime directive; theming, custom post types, databases, the whole_enchalada. HTML + CSS isn’t enough these days, hackers need experience in responsive development and you have to BYOJS (bring your own javascript). Huge bonus if you’ve worked in information architecture, have a design background, and practice version control. Work with a small self-motivated team to help build and maintain the next iteration of BostonHassle.com. EMAIL BostonHassle@Gmail – Kyle Goines

Boston Touches Down In Austin, TX For PsychFest ’14
Sure you’ve heard of the silk road, but what about the PSYCH road? No? Well, it’s being built. Double XL pipeline style straight from Boston to the faraway rhyming city of Austin and dumping out its heady contents at AUSTIN PSYCH FEST 5/2-5/4. Familiars Quilt, Doug Tuttle, Oneohtrix Point Never, and Perhaps will rep our city with flying colors on the national frontlines of trippy and garage-borne noise. We’re stoked to see so many of our homies going south to share in this festivular celebration of the craft. And obviously to show ‘em how we do. – Zach Peckham
