After releasing their third full length “Clawing Into Black Sun” through Profound Lore Record (the home of Agalloch, Leviathan, Wold…), Wolvhammer have set forth to spread their brand of sludgy black metal with NYC’s Mortals through North America, and TONIGHT they will arrive at Boston’s T.T The Bear’s Place.
Though they both carry the flag of black metal, WOLVHAMMER displays a distinct influence from the like of Eyehategod with their crushing bass-ridden riffs, while the female-fronted MORTALS stay true to the grim coldness of Darkthrone, but not without their own touch of originality, which can be appropriately described as crust punks taking a good rip at the bong then letting their guitars do the talking. Mortals recently released their sophomore album, “Cursed to See the Future” through Relapse Records. Supporting Wolvhammer and Mortals are Boston’s LIVVER and STRANGER. Boston Hassle is not unfamiliar with Stranger, since they have been previously covered here. For the uninitiated, Stranger is a brooding four piece band whose mission is to fuse the bleakest, gloomiest side of both genre. Livver is a fast hitting, no-holds-barred punk combo with a sound that wrecks havoc where-ever it goes. More details here.
