If you’re looking to kick off the last full month of summer in an epic way, look no further than the Wavves show at Paradise Rock Club tonight. The California garage-punk bad boys behind Wavves have been fine-tuning their sound of late, and the band’s most recent album Afraid of Heights, released this spring from Mom + Pop is a little darker, heavier, and polished than their earlier material, but still as edgy and loud as ever. The New Highway Hymnal, Lowell’s own purveyors of supernatural psych-punk, will open the show. If you’re looking for a head-boppin’, booty-shakin’ evening that leaves your ears ringing, get out to the Paradise tonight– you will definitely will not be disappointed.
