We have arrived at the weekend, and to help push you through that Friday finish line, the dope folks at DEEP THOUGHTS JP are hosting a sweet little showcase of local insanity. Surfing straight into your skull and soul will be Bufu Records rockers TSONS OF TSUNAMI (mems. Guerilla Toss). Riff upon righteous riff will wash over you as the TSONS let loose their catchy tunes. These FEARLESS RIDERS OF THE HOLY CURL are the perfect band to catch on a summer night in the city.
Joining in on the fun tonight will be SARALEE. This Allston two-piece delivers garage-flavored power pop that makes you want to sway and swing through the rest of summer. Rough-around-the-edges, melodic jams for anyone who enjoys the immediacy of the guitar-drums-and-vocals approach.
Also featuring some familiar faces from Guerilla Toss, Designer and Ayrkroyd will be dual-drummer boasting post-punks THE CHANNELS. Their recent Bufu Records release, ‘Lo Fruit,’ displays some twisted, piercing bass-lines and endlessly syncopated rhythms that inevitably drill themselves into your memory. Turner Falls-bred, free-form, apocalyptic rock brigade FLAMING DRAGONS OF MIDDLE EARTH will be performing tonight as well. Danny Cruz and his ever-evolving band of performers treat you to a mind-expanding take on loosely rock-based freak-outs that combines some of the legacy of Captain Beefheart with raw, improvisational antics.
Opening this awesome Friday night bill in a fittingly-awesome fashion will be a new trio called CANDY TRUCK. This band of NEC alumni and students (including the always-active Nick Neuberg) uses drums, guitar, and electronics to create a unique brand of limping and futuristic no wave which energetically skews traditional rhythm and melody.
