Oh happiest of days! The one and only THE BEETS are coming back to Boston to share their sweet, heartfelt tunes and overwhelming good will with us jaded city folk. As you may recall, The Beets recently came up from their home in Queens for the mighty blast that was Boston Hassle Fest. They had such a good time with us that wanted to come back right away. This time, they’re bringing the whole crew: their drummer Chie Mori and 4th member Matthew Volz, the artistic vision behind their coherent and endearing visual aesthetic.
If you haven’t yet heard the Beets, now’s your chance! This humble, inspiring group makes supremely catchy garage pop jams, influenced by myriad groovy styles including 60’s bop and 70’s Ramones-style punk. The straightforward songs may come off as simple and naïve, but repeated listened reveal the precious golden wisdom of singer’s Juan Wauters zen-like lyrics and the groups shiny, upbeat sound. Their songs are at once soaringly anthemic and touchingly relatable, and so simple and straightforward it may just inspire you to grab a guitar and pour out your heart. Local sweethearts Ronnie Nordac and Dylan Ewen’s the Sulk Scouts warm up your ears with their own brand of goofball pop at this very special show, brought to you by BUFU Records and B.O.W. Shows. So take the Orange Line down to Jamaica Plain to a certain storied alabaster abode, and give yourself a reason to smile.
