Rejoice! Boston’s prodigal sons have returned! SNEEZE and RAW BLOW are back from a whirlwind tour that saw them play 18 shows in as many days. EYE DESIGN is commemorating the tour’s completion with a music and art extravaganza tonight at CHARLIE’S KITCHEN . SNEEZE take the blown-out crunch and fuzz aesthetic normally reserved for much heavier music and whip it into perfectly constructed pop brilliance. The clean vocals cut right through thick layers of bass and guitars to deliver snarling screeds lamenting the woes of early middle age. RAW BLOW is an Allston All-star team composed of members of some of the heaviest bands Boston has seen in years. They still bring plenty of the tight chops and intensity they honed in previous bands but with a substantial boost to the vocal melodies and harmonies. The lyrical tone is as dark as ever, but this time the suggestions of bashing one’s own teeth out of one’s head are delivered with clarity and confidence rather than screamed unintelligibly, lost in a cacophony of crushing distortion. LADYBONES will round things out on the musical side. They will comfortably fit into this mix of heavy pop. Their Ikari-Warrior riffs combine with wry vocals and catchy melodies to deliver a potent sonic cocktail. Also showing their goods will be local artists: ALLSTON PUDDING, THE “SERIOUSLY? YES.” ZINE , THRIFTY TIMES and GLAMORAMA. The festivities will also include a Raffle and Nachos so don’t sleep on this one!
