One of the smartest gangster films I’ve seen in ages. A meandering philosophical road trip of a film. Terrence Stamp is great, a very young Tim Roth is amazing, and John Hurt makes you feel for the bad guy pretty hard. The female lead, Laura del Sola also lends a standout performance. I really need to be checking out more of Stephen Frears earlier films if this is what he was making back in the day! And the trailer:
