Fast Apple’s Monday rock-show series at Charlie’s Kitchen in Harvard Square just keeps getting better. Tonight, for example, is, just, sick… Kicking off will be NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (see what I did there?) purveyors of some of the finest power-prog-psych this side of the Merrimack. There is something of the carnival barker here, diffusing through the delirious riff-repeats that hearken back to your favorite RESIDENTS tracks. Next up are true punk fiends SKIMASK. Truth be told, I am a little afraid to say anything specific about this band. They scare me, truly, but in a good way. Scenting that awesomeness, and trailing our local heroes North from NYC comes DOG. Their primitivo style uses synchrony between all components at high-power, repeating segments the way a boxer works a speed bag. Rounding out the bill are fellow travelers THE SEDIMENT CLUB, a band whose talents assemble from scattered parts coming together to make music so deliciously psychotic. Warped guitar leads the way over fractured tempos and twisted basslines, all the while emitting no-wave poetry over all frequencies. Come early and stake out your territory. This one is not to be missed.
