Tucked away in a little Cambridge building, over the bridge and through a doorway there’s a small performance space called Outpost 186. They just installed gel pot lights with dimmers, you might need to scavenger hunt your way there with the help of a youtube video, and they host experimental multimedia smogasbords seven days a week. If you find yourself there tonight, you’ll be treated to the soaring voice and soulful compositions of Rachel Brotman, who hops between New York and New Orleans and makes some soft, warm and round smooth jazz sounds. She’s joined by local sextet Amethyst, who play complex pieces that move with the grace of well-oiled birds. Both play cool covers and future standards. Join them tonight at Outpost 186!
