How about a day trip to Portsmouth in the off-season? Four bands that compliment each other exquisitely come to the Press Room tonight. If there is one, the theme here is “psychedelic.”
Quilt never sound aimless no matter how daydreamy they get. These musicians are exceptional at playing with each other.
Doug Tuttle’s post-Mmoss solo album came out earlier this week. It’s groovy and spacious––well-composed textures, bouncy drums and lyrical guitar playing.
Creaturos––very tight and a little unhinged––clean guitars sounding mean. If Quilt are a daydream, Creaturos are a nightmare––a fun nightmare where you have to surf your way out of a 1950s horror movie.
In spirit, Rick Rude remind me of The Flaming Lips. They have energy and cool guitar leads.
Go enjoy the sea air and get into the weird vibes. It’s not even supposed to be that cold out.
