First Wednesdays in Central Square are pretty psychedelic these days, what with the Cambridge label pRIMORDIAL sOUNDS hosting their sensory stimulating night at Middlesex Lounge. TONIGHT they host the soothing, liquid smooth sounds of OLDEN YOLK, the solo project of Shane Butler of local psych rockers Quilt. Layers of peacefully pastoral guitar glide gently against his meditative invocations. Joining him are local fuzzed groovers FUTURE DAYS (mem Moontowers), rolling heavy Stones and splashing out with a snarky bite. Michael Scott Leyden aka WHISTLE JACKET likewise recalls an early 70’s easy rider feel, mixing grassroots California country with a soulful glam sheen. As always, expect eye popping visuals (typically some trippy throw-back animation) and DJ sets neck deep in 60’s and 70’s golden nuggets. Get in the swing with these primeval reverberations.
