It’s Friday alright, and O’Brien’s knows exactly what you need: a show packed full of amazing trippy sounds! The mysterious crew of Planet of Adventure is sure to unimaginable new worlds with their sci-fi studded sound. Gondoliers drips jumpy, chunky rock/punk saturated with thick otherworldly keyboard, raspy guitar, and drawn-out magical-yet-creepy lyrics. Squirtyworm booms with ripply bass and reedy keys, with guitars that sound like impending doom, then cuts to bright harmonic riffs before taking you right back to teeth-grinding chords. And Crinkle Face tastes nothing like french-fries, but their sounds delight anyway; picked high-tension chords fall into high-resolution riffs and slow melodic jams reminiscent of ghost stories as sung by David Bowie. Get the weekend off to the proper start – come out to Allston, drain a few brews, and hear what these killer bands have to offer.
