NON-EVENT – REUBEN SON, BENJAMIN NELSON, & PATRICK EMM @ THE WATERWORKS MUSEUM

by

Excepting those low-bitrate mp3s on your earbuds, most sounds you hear are not piped directly into your ears: what you actually hear is dependent on a number of factors including the shape & size of the room you’re in and the materials that compose it’s various surfaces. These acoustic relationships are not often explored or even considered by musicians aside from the occasional refusal to play a certain club because “the room is shit, man”. Tonight will be different as three of Boston’s most accomplished young experimentalists fill the beautiful Waterworks Museum in Cleveland Circle with the sounds of a collaborative work composed with this particular historical space in mind. Reuben Son, Benjamin Nelson, and Patrick Emm will be performing solo and as a trio with modular synths, electronics, and custom-built instruments. I do not recommend missing this chance to experience a tribute in sound and space to one of Boston’s most overlooked museums.

7pm // All Ages // $5
