If you’re feeling of a more mild dispositions but with a mind bent towards the musical fringe, then pique your ears to the avant-guard electronic melodies of NON-EVENT. Tonight they host the prodigious composer HOWARD STELZER at Brookline’s Cafe Fixe. Stezler is a long-time fixture of Boston’s free improvisation community, exploring the singular sonic qualities of cassette tapes and tape players, often in collaboration with experimental improvisers like Jason Talbot, Vic Rawlings and many, many more. Tonight he plays solo, whipping up tape hiss, mechanical sounds and feedback into stunning sound collage to mesmerize minds and soothe souls. Have some fine evening espresso to compliment this tape head’s wild sounds in a most intimate of settings.
