Originality goes in cycles. We are all inspired by something. Even the earliest pioneers took cues from surrounding events and could only dream about the impact of their work. TONIGHT at Washington Street Arts Center, two composers exhibit their musical output through the input of their influences.
NICK HENNIES is the founder of Weighter Recordings, former percussionist for the legendary Weird Weeds, and composer of a myriad of diverse musical projects. Hennies will perform solo snare drum pieces by John Cage and Peter Ablinger. He will be joined by a variety of Boston musicians in order to perform his composition “Expenditures”. Completing the bill is KATARINA MILJKOVIC, a faculty member of the New England Conservatory whose compositions are derived from the theories of music, nature, and science à la Xenakis.
