Activist, actor, playwright, and vocalist of garage punk/pop fusion band Tomboy, Madeline Burrows shines in MOM BABY GOD. Described as “a tour de force that serves both the movement for reproductive rights and the art of theater with extreme effectiveness,” by The Nation’s Dave Zirin, this one-woman show examines the heated debate behind abortion rights in America with humor and insight. Based on a year of real undercover research in the anti-abortion community, the audience will be presented with rhetoric actually used by pro-life activists. As a play with a clear political message, the team behind it aims to inspire audiences to commit themselves to reproductive rights advocacy by showing them how effective the anti-abortion community is. Currently co-sponsored by the Boston Doula Project, the Brandeis Women and Gender Studies Department, and the Harvard International Women’s Rights Collective, this show is a must-see for all women’s rights activists and supporters.
