MINCEMEAT OR TENSPEED, UNGUENT, SPIRITUAL RECESS, L. LEWIS, BELARISK, W00DY, LSDV, HOMEWORLD @ SBC

by

It’s that time of year again; the holiday season is fast approaching and despite all of the commercial cheer getting thrown your way, sometimes you just need to brood. And that’s exactly where Mincemeat or Tenspeed comes in. The Providence producer’s finely tuned experimental electronic music is firmly rooted in a particular brand of noisy dissonance. Look no further than the pulsing synths, jarring reverb, and pounding rhythms of Mincemeat’s show tonight at SBC to serve as your sonic catharsis.

Carrying on the night’s theme of electronic angst is Philly producer Unguent. With a sound that is one part outer space, one part glitchy samples, and one part deep techno, Unguent is the ideal opener for Mincemeat or Tenspeed. Following suit is Spiritual Recess, which can best be described as electronic shoegaze music complete with a wide array of unexpected samples and a lo-fi finishing touch. L. Lewis is perhaps the most buoyant of all the acts on this lineup, with his bouncing beats that seem to be perpetually pushing forward in a rather frantic manner. Belarisk will be providing the minimalist electronic tunes destined to float over SBC like a cold, early morning fog, while Boston local act W00dy willy be sampling his highly texturized production style. Get to the show early in order to catch LSDV‘s set, packed with creepy infomercial samples and frenetic underlying beats. And don’t forget Homeworld‘s throbbing electronic tracks, complete with some unique vocal parts amidst the night’s sea of instrumental sets.

All in all, SBC is where it’s at tonight if you’re trying to shake off the impending stress of the next month or so. Because sometimes you just need to clear your head with a couple hours of glitchy, scrambled electronic beats.
