TOTAL CONTROL is fuzzy, and melodic, poppy and noisy, punk and electronic in nature. They feature members of other great bands(UV RACE, EDDY CURRENT SUPPRESSION RING) and they come from Australia. Their first full length, HENGE BEAT, came out recently on IRON LUNG and it blends together myriad musical approaches and feels so well that really the record ends up feeling pretty, well, timeless. “Last Days”, the opener, rides a synth hook all the way serving as a wave for the mantra of the title. “Meds II” is a slow burner Eno dirge that does eventually go up in flames, but not before making us want for it. “One More Tonight” is some noisy punk pop featuring some great guitar riffing that fades away in an ambient drift, while “Retiree” is just a non-stop punk blast that never lets up for all of its under 2 minutes. Great tunes. All over the place aesthetically, but tied together by some bigger picture that we can’t see, but we can definitely feel. Would love to see this band live.
