Boston resident Time Wharp has been building a steady following for the past year with his stellar performances of psychedelic electronic beat explorations and exquisitely crafted productions. His last release, 2011’s GRN EP (off FRSH SLCTS) was a short but sweet mix of jazz influenced abstract beats full of synth riffs, skewed samples and ambient undertones, inviting one and all to groove along as the beat mutates from a syncopated melody to a heavy club banger and back again. There’s more: ‘yrLyf,’ Time Wharp’s first single from his upcoming BLK EP from Astro Nautico, trumps even that collection of deranged tunes with a hazy RnB slow burner accented with psychedelic sitar strummings and a R. Kelly ghost serenade. Time Wharp just headlined a spectacular performance at Phoenix Landing last Tuesday for JASS. Supposedly it was his last show ’till springtime, so until then, I recommend you just lay back, light up, and try to have a good time.
