Fronted by the one of the vocalists from beloved but defunct Boston jangle poppers MITTENS(hunt down their records), SHELTERBELT traverses a somewhat similar sonic terrain, what with lazy day jangling guitars and melodies that go directly from ear into cortex being the simple recipe found in the too small sampling of tune-age on their site. “Haven’t Been Right In My Head” has that breezy VU style engaging rhythm thing going on, while singer Tom gets into the intracies of all that relationship stuff. I want to hear much more of this. Also featuring members of FRANK SMITH, another gone but not forgotten Boston area pop group.
