ATTN: Tape heads seeking obscuro-Canadian keyboard bedroom jams. Musical oddity and visual artist Peter Kalyniuk met Arkm Foam (of Peace, Loving and The Whitehaus) on Napster chat in 2000 and they swapped 4-track mixes back and forth for years. Having never played a show, or been released anywhere else, Peter’s music went mostly unlistened-to for the past dozen years. Finally these absurd ditties has been made available via ‘Canada Goose Tapes‘, Foams new tape label. He’s got an ear for nonsensical noise numbers, CGT’s first release was a Cloud Becomes Your Hand tape back in 2010. CGT002 is actually two Kalynuik albums in one: Side 1 is “Digital Dementia”, recorded on a digital 16 track in 2005, and Side 2 is “Willy Songs”, recorded on cassette four-track in 2001. Nick Williams of One Kind Favor Records turned me on to this via Cassette Gods: “From madhouse carnival romps & space alien waltzes to psychedelic civil war marches, Kalyniuk delivers the goods in ways I’m not sure you’ll even begin to comprehend. Lucky for you, you don’t have to, I’ve already done all the comprehending necessary, all you need to do is go spend $5 at http://www.canadagoosetapes.com/tapes/ (they’ve even got some audio samples up there).”
Look out for the Arkm Foam / Peter Kalyniuk c101 split to be released in 2012!
