Maine via Chicago drone and loop makers OLD HAG just got in touch about playing a show. I’d never heard of them so I gave a listen and was pleasantly surprised at the pleasantness of their sounds. The material on the bandcamp site is more like batches of musical notions rather than any kind of solid, full on statement, but it was agreeable no matter. From INTERLUDES(released in 2010) “5a” is full of shimmering guitar loops and buzzing drone over a bed of sampled guitar. Maybe there’s even live playing in there too. Either way, sounds good. “3b” is a blast of synth drones and arpeggiated runs that force the listener to submit to their lost in the clouds ambience. Would love to hear more recent recordings.
