Mars Argo is a duo based in Chicago that, while picking up views in the tens of thousands on youtube, has only really dabbled into the live scene recently. Having discovered them at random on bandcamp a year or two ago, I for one have been waiting impatiently for the day they finally go on tour. They have a vintage sound and style that could easily be the soundtrack for an old school summer roadtrip, yet pumped up and modern with electronic warbling. And the band doesn’t stop at music. They periodically post avant-garde creative videos that frequently poke fun at pop culture, especially when centered around technology, the public media, and the internet.
Check out this video for a taste of their more rock ‘n’ roll side:
And don’t forget to check out their tracks over at bandcamp! Choose from a range of moods, from the dreamlike quality of “Suicide Birds” off their debut album “Technology is a Dead Bird” to the classic pop-rock atmosphere of “Using You” from the “Linden Place EP.”
