Depressing, but often beautiful pop from this Somerville group. BREAKERS, their debut LP was released on HARDLY ART within the past couple of months. The songs move slowly, drifting really, atop melancholy piano delivered chord progressions. Cello appears to further dampen the atmosphere created by the wafting vocals and sparse production. “I Heard The Party” has the singer, perhaps unwanted, finding the party. A beautiful song surely, but one has to wonder what kind of party one would bother attending in the kind of mood potrayed here.
