I first caught Montreal’s DUCHESS SAYS at a Bodies of Water show in the middle of the 00s playing with like minded post-punks, the great LES GEORGES LENINGRAD; them also of that same wonderful Eastern Canadian city, Montreal. Lost track of them, or they of me, either way here’s a new record from them IN A FUNG DAY T! Here in the now we find DUCHESS SAYS often rocking a decidedly new wave sound, albeit one with liberal amounts of fuzz mixed in. “Time To Reiterate” lets the bass step right up front with a slightly mutated “My Sharona” riff. This is catchy stuff that people who like to dance(especially to something like rock music)are going to LOVE. Song ends with a reminder that the rock still lives in this band. “S.O.H.” rides along a sequenced beat droning along amidst a downer rock vibe.
