LISTEN TO: Blue Sabbath Black Fiji

by

Armed with 2 guitars, a drum machine, and a horde of effect pedals, this insane Glasgow based noise-rock pair channel both the disturbed funk of Black Dice and the pure decimation of AIDS Wolf into a gurgling river of disjointed noise rhythms that quickly cascades into a frenzied whirlpool swelling with thunderous guitar distortion and feedback loops. Listening to this sonic sludge, your body yearns in vain to dance along to evanescent grooves that swell then quickly dissipate back into a chaotic wall of reverb. As expected, these cats are a psychotic blast live, but its in their many recordings that this band stands out from the heap. Their masterly production ensures that every bleep is crisp and distinct without losing any of the vitality or immediacy so crucial for noise acts. Newcomers can begin with the We Have No Zen‘s 2010 comp VALM or last year’s full length Mistakes of a Small Bird from the seminal Feeding Tube Recs, but I assure you noise-heads will never get tired of this wicked brew. Let’s thrash.
