Tonight we say adieu to Night of the Living Deadhead, the long running and always free late show that’s kept Monday’s in Central Square loud and groovy since 2009. Curator Johnny Allen usually doubles as the trusty Zuzu barman, but for this final show he’ll forgo the libations and get the crowd intoxicated with his music instead. His band FEDAVEES open the show with their signature spaced-out garage fuzz. Check out their brand new album below, the long awaited follow up to 2010’s Night Cow debut. Veteran psych folk jester BOBB TRIMBLE & THE FLYING SPIDERS get their wah-wahs out, manipulating psychedelic twists and swirls of groovy licks from a sea of reverb. They will be debuting their new video (shot by the lovely Eye Design) for their recently released 2009 live tape on Burger Records. Then Johnny gets back in the saddle with stoner dad rock bruisers HEADBAND to close out this momentous occasion.
So whether you’re a die-hard fan or a first time listener, head on over to Zuzu’s for this last Night of the Living Deadhead, be witness to a piece of local history, and give thanks to one who so selflessly supports the local music community.
10pm // 21+ // Free
P.S: Johnny may be retiring, but the free local music night at Zuzu will live on in the form of Rad Castle. More on that soon…
