Kishi Bashi (bow name of K. Ishibashi, formerly of Jupiter One) has a live show that doubles as a behind-the-scenes brain tour, as he uses his violin and voice to spin threads of music and a loop pedal to weave them into shiny ropes. When he’s got it all together, his intricate compositons sound like the soundtrack to a film about a young man finding love, destiny, and himself in MarioKart’s Mushroom City. Exercise your face beforehand lest it hurt from involuntary smiles. Opener Elizabeth and the Catapult make songs that are at once catchy and jazzy. Catch them both tonight at Royale!
