THE RED DOOR in Porthsmouth, NH is O’Brien’s classy cousin to the north. Both venues are tiny in size but huge in value to the local music scene. SALTY SPEAKERS is leveraging that value tonight with an outstanding lineup.

Haunting, gothic rockers KAL MARKS will be topping this stellar bill of heavy hitting, thoughtful rock and roll. They have created a very unique sound full of articulate, strong, confident drums, well-orchestrated, gurgle-crunch guitars blasting spooky riffs with idiosyncratic, warbley, deadpan vocals on top. Their blown-out-murder-tale aesthetic builds from quietly subdued, light-through-the-willows atmosphere into frenetic explosions of noise and angst-filled screeching. They have a strong narrative quality that saturates every note of their music. Joining them will be pummeling Allston power trio LADYBONES. Their sound is a bombastic mix of articulate, bright guitars, big bass and bigger drums with their vocals confidently snarled on top. They flex their strong synchronicity in long instrumental breaks that veer happily into 8-bit-NES-riff territory. NH natives, NOTCHES will be in full effect as well. They spew a crunchy buzzsaw bee’s nest of blown out guitars, powerful bass and frantic drums with some nice vocal harmonies on top. Things will get a little heady when drum and guitar duo SUPERDUDE round things out. The NH boys are a purely instrumental outfit.
