Boston’s fine rock and arts enthusiast, EYE DESIGN is back with another stacked lineup of impressive young talent. IDIOT GENES are anchoring the night with their sneering, swaggering, blown out creep-rock. The singer grr-howls over crushing bass and drums while untethered guitar lines soar in and out of the spotlight. They’ve got the crunch, punch and snarl of a broken bottle fight behind the Model. Z*L will bring their rambling, gang-vocal infused sonic fury as well. There’s a very lean, straightforward approach to their music with spacey, echoey, guitar leads taking charge and a sparse but tight rhythm section filling in the gaps. BLACK BEACHES also pack some serious grit and pain into their rambunctious music as well. With driving verses, nihilistic screeching and tempo dropping breakdowns, they aren’t afraid to let things grow into strange places outside the typical confines of genre. The foot will come off the gas a little bit when TODAY JUNIOR brings its refined mix of shimmering guitars and heartfelt songs of woe to the stage. These guys are as concerned with details like tone and texture as they are with catchy, pop songcraft.
