Falling leaves, chill in the air, sun setting earlier – all signs that witching season is upon us. Sink into the ominous gloom that is October with this burly spookfest of a show TONIGHT at O’Brien’s in Allston, presented by Open Loop. Aptly-named Haunted Horses arrive from Seattle just in time for the season with a beastly sound of demented psycho punk drones mixed with heavy cauterized riffs and a peppering of industrial noise. With an act this frightful, you know the local support with be just as dark and menacing. Psych doomers Hex Map swirl like coagulated blood down a dirty drain, Allston drums-guitar duo Hero(n) rip with a crashing, relentless energy, and new band The Channels (featuring members of Guerilla Toss, Designer and Aykroyd) snarl and yelp and howl in frantic, spazz-happy noise punk style. If you’re looking for a vicious pummeling of a show, colored in the dreary tones, get yourself over to the hell hole that is Allston rock city for this undead beaut.
