An awesomely indeterminate evening of experimental improvisation at Third Life Studios in Union Square tonight as one of the truest heads of the MASS improv/noise scene, Walter Wright, curates a showcase for emerging artists as part of Third Life’s monthly Open Sound series. The evening will begin with a performance by Borah Bergman on piano w/ local pimps Dave Gross on Sax and Vic Rawlings on cello/exposed circuits. This stellar trio will be followed by random pairings of Walter Wrights hand selected emerging improv artists: Stephanie Lak, Samuel Potrykus (Needy Visions), Mark Johnson (Hunnie Bunnies), Derek Fenner, Betty Wang, and Abram Taber will be duking it out in no particular order. Then all participating EV’s will come all come together to perform “Variations III” by legendary say whaaaaat composer/thinker/weirdo John Cage, wherein performers are asked to drop a bunch of small cut-out circles onto a piece of paper and use it as the score for their performance (check the link for a fuller description). It’s all about chance tonight, and there’s an insanely good chance that you will get your mind blown. 8pm All Ages $8 FB SIGN UPS
