All hail legendary Massachustayhigh psychedelic rock masters! The Prefab Messiahs were one of the coolest things going in Massachusetts (or elsewhere) in the ’80s, even if no one knew it at the time. With their weirdo widening of the ’60s-throwback vibe and mixing in of jangly folk-rock and dark new-wave pop, these Worcester heads have weathered the test of time to become the should-be prototype for all underground rockers the Bay State has spawned since. The same can be said of their friend and mentor, the truest Wormtown oddball rock star, Bobb Trimble who is bringing his Flying Spiders out to play tonight. Plus they’ll be joined by fellow Mass head and busy buddy Jesse Gallagher (of Da Burdz and Apollo Sunshine). Sometimes things happen that are so worthy of your excitement it’s legitimately hard to put it into words. This is one of those things. This is the kickoff of a sort of mini-tour the reunited Messiahs are embarking on, in line with last year’s re-release of their great record Peace, Love, and Alienation on Fixed Identity. Check that nish out, ’cause it will straight blow your dome, and be sure to make your way to Cambridge tonight to check out this sick sick psych in real life. Going down @The Middlesex Lounge in Cambridge, 10pm 21+ $3
