It’s getting hot out there, so move your butt over to Middlesex Lounge tonight and cool down with pRIMORDIAL sOUNDS‘ oasis of summery songs. Quilt (Mexican Summer) is drenched in reverb and soft vocal harmonies, tasty tambourine beats and spacey voyages – the kind of thing that makes you feel like you’re holding hands with long-haired Flower Children in the shade of some soon-to-be-uprooted tree. Things get a bit funkier with Herbcraft (Portland, Woodsist Records), who bring flaring flutes and wailing guitars so adventurous you’d might just float peacefully into the cosmos – if it weren’t for the tight bass- and drumlines. And the enlightened fellow that is Mutual Benefit will mellow you out with loose, flowing electronic pop wonders – think “Buddha in tie-dye robes sighing at the night sky”. Recharge for the rest of the week ahead with some chill tunes!
