Union Square’s gonna be chock full of great music tonight – come out to Radio to celebrate the almost-end of the week and be enveloped by the sounds of these spaced-out bands. Portland, Oregon’s dark synth lords Light House (Portland, OR, Mannequin Records) feels like being an astronaut, watching your tether to the International Space Station come detached as you slowly float away from everything you know and love. If you happen to have encountered some hostile alien lifeforms on the way to the edge of the universe, Ruby Ridge‘s nervy creepy synth-drenched electronics would perfectly encapsulate your thoughts. The gloomy post-punk/dreampop of the The Milling Gowns is the music you hear in the great infinite expanse as you float helplessly until you finally accept your abysmal fate. And as you feel the ineluctable tug of a black hole, the music in your head switches to Sleep Crimes, in all of their crunchy, doomy glory. You grit your teeth, mutter something existential, and yield to the void…
Sound like your sort of trip? Then get out of the house for this show tonight and support some great bands!
