Over the last few years, the Berlin-based label known as PAN has established itself as one of the most exciting institutions putting out new experimental electronic music. The good folks at Non-Event have helped to bring some PAN goodness to Boston as a part of PAN_ACT, also taking place in NYC for the next two weeks. Tonight gives listeners a chance to witness whole slew of heavyhitters from three different continents. Lee Gamble released two of the most well-loved PAN records of last year, with the refracted rave memories of Diversions 1994-1996 and Dutch Tvashar Plumes splitting many a year end list. Heatsick also broke out last year – the Deviations EP brought out a heartfelt naïveté rarely found likeable in “serious dance music”. Local Keith Fullerton Whitman, whose Disingenuity/Disingenuousness still stands as one of the label’s best, will be rounding out the set, hopefully bringing more of the modular synthesizer work we know and love from him. This part of the night goes down at the Goethe-Institut Boston, 170 Beacon St.

Things get even freakier at the afterparty, where DJ’s will be spinning the night away at the Middlesex Lounge in Cambridge. Headlining the dance portion will be Osaka-based producer NHK’Koyxen. NHK has been involved on a few PAN releases, most notably the two volumes of Dance Classics from last year. All together, not a night to miss. Get tickets from Non-Event, and look out for PAN_ACT night 2 on Sunday…
