Don’t miss tonight’s mystical dream pop affair at T.T. The Bear’s. The multitalented, Philly-based David Hartley first used his solo project Nightlands as a means of archiving musical ideas that transpired in his sleep. Initially, he was simply using a basic bedside tape recorder; a sort of field recorded for his unconscious visions. These small, personal inspections of the psyche quickly spiraled into an earnest multi-year project, however. Nightlands incorporates dense vocal arrangements, multilayered effects, pitch-shifted guitar sounds and romantically soft rock tones over buoyantly pop drum beats. Local Dreamhaus alum Little Spoon opens with their mellow, seductive bedroom pop. So get over to Central for a night of delectable electronics to smooth out the creases in your psyche.
