GO TO: TONIGHT (6/16) 200 Years (Six Organs/Magik Markers), Beautiful Weekend and Snidely And Whiplash @Whitehaus

by

Tonight BOW Shows/Boston Hassle in collaboration with Slow Blood Music are bringing you quite an epic and intimate show. 200 Years is a new project from Ben Chasny and Elisa Ambrogio, two prolific veterans of the psychedelic & experimental corner of the underground. Although Ben is actively touring and recording as Six Organs of Admittance and Elisa’s band Magik Markers still plays now and again, this is far from a side-project. They’ve appeared as guests on each other’s records and collaborated in the drone group Basalt Fingers, but 200 Years is the sum of their equally powerful creative forces joined in harmonious union. Exploring various subdued hues reminiscent of ethereal, slow-core, and psych-folk, their distinct approaches to songwriting compliment each other in a way that allows feelings of tenderness, melancholy, hope, and world-weariness to share the same page. The debut self-titled album on Drag City is the record of two people clearly in love with each other as much as the music that inspires them. Fans of their previous work, forebears like Gary Higgins & Linda Perhacs, and contemporaries such as Grouper will be pleasantly surprised. Plus two other incredible local duos, Beautiful Weekend, and Snidely and Whiplash (Featuring Bobb Trimble and Crystal Fulbright) further stretch out your expectations of what an all acoustic show can be.
