Non-Event, those perennial purveyors of experiments in sound, host an extra special event tonight at Harvard Square’s Swedenborg Chapel. Swedish multi-sensory conceptual artists Leif Elggren (of Sons of God) and CM Von Hausswolff have since the mid 1970’s explored the limits of sound manipulation. Whether harnessing the sonic detritus of previous audio-visual projects or sampling the world around them with various recording devices (camera, tape deck, radar, sonar), these master magicians break down sounds to their base components, and then deftly manipulate them into complex drones, ecstatic noise and other fantastical sounds that will call into question your most fundamental conceptions. Utilizing the incredible acoustics of Swedenborg chapel, these Scandinavian sound artists will be your guide on a most holy transcendental audio-visual journey. Savor this medley of the senses.
