Deep Thoughts, that landmark record store in the heart of JP, is only a month old, but they aren’t wasting any time in their mission to provide safe, secure location for local musicians to practice their craft. Tonight’s show is a perfect example: three hometown weirdos soothe and inspire the work-weary and care-free alike. Colby Nathan (of Hyena and N.E. Patriots), back from a lengthy comedy tour extracting tortured laughs with his absurd quips, will play a solo show of who-knows? Probably a combination of lethargic, plucked compositions and folk-punk jamboree jumbles. Shane of Quilt returns from NYC (where they just finished recording a new album!) to perform under his solo moniker OLDEN YOLK. Expect dreamy, pastoral guitar odes that expand and gain momentum like a babbling stream flowing towards oceanic enlightenment. Allston alley cat WITCH WOLF offers a shimmering sacrifice of dark, droned out moaner feedback, like a wandering ghost, aimless and full of unresolved angst.
