Let’s get ready to RUMMMMMMBLE! TONIGHT marks the beginning of the 34th annual ROCK ‘N’ ROLL RUMBLE, a nine-night battle royale between some tasty local music prawns. Every year organizer Anngelle Wood curates a select class of noisemongers, pop rockers, beat machines and interstellar rock voyagers and makes them duke it out over three rounds of competition for bragging rights, new fans and a healthy lump of cashola. Kicking off the 2013 fest this evening in preliminary round #1 features some righteous rockers: droning psych-fuzz kings of the Sahara NEW HIGHWAY HYMNAL, morsels of pure, shoegaze-y indie rock bliss thanks to VELAH, the swampy, grooving southern rock jams, twisted with the funky bent-circuit electro madness of CANCER KILLING GEMINI, and finally dig into some spacious, rootsy and psychedelicious folk rock from the practiced hands of THE OKAY WIN. Who gets your vote as Beantown’s best? Head down to TT The Bear’s Place in Central Square and infect your head!
