A very special thing is beginning today. For many, it might not seem so important, but today marks the opening of DEEP THOUGHTS, Boston’s newest record store. Founded by Nick Williams ( One Kind Favor) and Peter Negroponte (Anonymous Dog), movers and shakers in the subterranean scene, Deep Thoughts is large and colorful one stop shop for rare, unusual vinyl, contemporary classics, tape trash, easy listening masterpieces and everything in between. To celebrate the birth of this Jamaica Plain landmark, the Whitehaus crew is throwing another installment of Cheap Seats, their open-ended variety show brimming with rapid-fire, flowing performances, both musical and otherwise, including sets by the owner’s musical projects Guerilla Toss and Cave Bears. ‘Cheap Thoughts’ will also be a live auction of choice Deep Thoughts records, for which they will be accepting only other records (or tapes or CD’s) of similar value and style. So get over to the Cambridge YMCA in Central Square and sink deep in the seats with this momentous occasion.
