All different species at the Aviary tonight! We’ve got Animal Hospital, the work of electronic soundscaper Kevin Micka, who loops like a roller coaster, layers like a cakemaker, and treats all his samples like they’re his favorite. The extremely prolific Aidan Baker uses the almighty drone to conjure up everything from the sounds of outer space to the emotions of female water spirits. Insect Ark, aka Dana Schechter, makes deep and buzzy bass-based tracks that float, sting, and sometimes burrow into your head and lay things. And Owlfood conjures dark forests and compelling nightmares with lyrics like haunted house graffiti and hourglass-patient guitars. Come down to JP, ride on all of their weird spiny backs, and toss them some peanuts if you’re impressed! (You will be, we promise.)
