GO TO: TONIGHT (2/22) DOPAPOD + GHOSTS OF JUPITER + THE JAUNTEE @ THE PARADISE

by

Nothing but good vibes this Friday night at the intersection of three of New England’s most ripping purveyors of old-school psychedelia. The ever-infectious DOPAPOD, supporting the release of their third studio effort Redivider, make the trek north to Boston on their 2013 winter tour to dazzle our minds with complex, meandering prog rock expeditions from another end of the universe. Supporting them tonight are two of Boston’s own lysergic darlings — GHOSTS OF JUPITER sound like David Gilmour jamming out in a very hazy garage to a Soundgarden cassette, and you won’t want to miss their crunchy combo of classic grunge, blues and prog expansiveness; but definitely show up early to catch THE JAUNTEE, a young Allston four-piece who jam like their damn instruments might combust at any moment. Improvisation is the name of their game as they chart a unique course between fuzzed-out rock nirvana, bouncing bluegrass refrains, psycho funk interludes and every twisted port in between with a fervor that would have Casey Jones weeping with pride. So boogie on down to the aptly named Paradise tonight and lose yourself somewhere between the boundaries of space, time and spirit — this one is absolutely not to be missed.
