GO TO: TONIGHT (2/2) WEIRDO’S 4TH BIRTHDAY W/ HORSE LORDS, GUERILLA TOSS, FUNERAL CONE, DELEUZER @ O’BRIEN’S

by

Dear traveler, are you lost and delirious? Has every narrative been played out? Has consumption left you hollow inside? Well, I can’t guarantee a cure, but there’s a wonderful little record store in Cambridge called WEIRDO RECORDS, and we’re celebrating its 4th birthday TONIGHT at O’Brien’s! It’s extremely odd, if not down right insane, to open a small, independent record store during the death throes of traditional media and in the midst of the Great Recession, but somehow the proprietor Angela pulls it off. Her dedication to the obscure and bizarre has earned her a growning legion of loyal customers, committed to supporting this beautiful anomaly.

For such a wonderful institution, you know they gotta celebrate in style with 4 awesome noise rock freakazoids. HORSE LORDS are math-drone polyrhythmic krautrock ensemble from Baltimore. There’s nothing like em. You might have heard of local luminaries GUERILLA TOSS, they have this schizophrenic dark post-punk funk thing going on and it’s a lot of fun when they get going. Worcester’s FUNERAL CONE  just get noisey as all hell fulminating riffs, pounding bass and a peppering of psychotic synth. DELEUZER is a supergroup comprised of world-class experimental improvisers Morgan Evans Weiler, Michael Rosenstein, Jesse Collins, Jonathan Lizcano, & Howard Martin.

Traveler, I don’t know what kind of music you’re into, but at this moment, in this part of town, you won’t find an event nearly as fun, with a community nearly as kind and as open. So come celebrate a beautiful thing. Maybe they’ll even be cake…
