It’s Monday night in JP, which means you should come catch some local (Providence is pretty close, right?) performers throwing down solo sets with a few out of state acts that are sure to bring a little something new to your week-day experience. Jane La Onda, the keyboard and drum machine driven solo project of Guerilla Toss vocalist Kassie Carlson, will be playing some tunes from her recently released Feeding Tube Records debut, ‘BUY BUY BUY,’ at Neverland. Her immediately melodic recordings are fuzzy, minimal yet highly active exercises in bedroom pop. They also bear a lo-fi grit that adds a bit of cushion to the surprisingly abrasive moments, with Kassie’s vocal takes still having plenty of room to cut through to the point of warm distortion as well.
Ramping up the crunchy noise will be Sediment Club frontman Austin Sley Julian performing under his own solo moniker, SUNK HEAVEN. Those of you out there who enjoy blown out loops and limping rhythms are in for a treat with this set. SUNK HEAVEN delivers the disorienting goods, dishing out warped electronic landscapes that are saturated with gain, feedback, and delay.
Virginia-based sludge punks NEW TURKS are set to play tonight as well. With some incredibly crunchy bass and heavy drums with roots in the hardcore tradition, this two-piece will shake you with thunderous, thrashy jams from start to finish.
Also bringing the Virginia two-piece vibe to JP will be experimental party rockers NAVI. Face-shredding, fun-inducing rock delivered straight to your cranium.
BIG BUB from New York will also be on hand to open things up for this Monday night special. So come out to NEVERLAND in JP for a noisey, good time!
