The Sinclair in Cambridge is where you want to be on this Sunday evening if exquisitely executed punk is something that peaks your interest. On tour from Rohnert Park, CA are CEREMONY, a band that has traversed the hardcore landscape and recently arrived at a new, tense expression of “fuck you” which falls somewhere between Pink Flag-era Wire and Agent Orange. Precision and intensity are delivered in distorted blasts as well as cleaner, extended meditations as Ross and co. rip through the band’s impressive discography. Having released full-lengths on labels ranging from Bridge Nine to Matador, Ceremony continue to explore the core of punk music while expanding their vision of it’s limits.
Joining them on tour are NOTHING, the Philadelphia-based shoegaze group that has been throwing guitars and playing unapologetically loud across the country supporting their recently released ‘Guilty of Everything‘ over the past few months. Full, Hum-inspired walls of fuzzy guitar crush your skull and occasionally give way to some cleaner moments. A band that brings an underlying heft and aggression to their slowly unfolding progressions.
Helping to firmly establish the West Coast, punk and hardcore vibe of this show will be Seattle, WA two-piece IRON LUNG. Their fast, blistering brand of power violence is disorienting and sludgey – rapid fire snares and shrieking guitars mixed with heavy, break-neck chord changes.
Opening tonight are Providence sax-punk thrashers DOWNTOWN BOYS. Dance-friendly street punk with a decidedly political bent that is sure to make you want to pogo and mosh with a little extra groove in your step.
So hit up the Sinclair TONIGHT for a loud-as-hell, fun-as-hell show featuring some West and East Coast rippers!
