Top echelon New England psych rock outfit HERBCRAFT have a new record out this week via Woodsist and it is a doozy, of VIBES. This crew never disappoints with their soulful, hazy, plotting free rock and this seems to be the most fully fleshed out incarnation of the band I’ve heard yet. Featuring an outstanding cast of North East music makers and recorded to tape by expert analog sound cultivator Doug Tuttle (Mmoss), The Astral Body Electric has Herbcraft channeling the beautiful, heady soundscapes they are known for but with even more precision than ever. The instrumentation is true to form and captured with absolute authenticity but it wouldn’t matter a lick if they didn’t have that magic. With some choice compositions and a great deal improvisations this Maine gang has a firm grip on what makes this type of blissed out psych/folk/rock so entrancing.
