Harsh Noise & Tape-Loop technicians will gather in Allston tonight to practice their arcane science. If you’ve been curious about this sector of sound art, tonight would be a good opportunity to educate yourself as Existence Establishment curates this showing of well-regarded HNW practitioners. First will be Boston’s own darkscape architect VEHEMENT CARESS, combining low-tone synth, tape loop and voice in and exploration of negative textures/impulses. Merzbowine is an adjective I just now invented to describe A SNAKE IN THE GARDEN’s coersion of sound from materials as metaphor. BREACHED HULL co-members DECEIVER and SHREDDED NERVE round out the set, each bringing their solo game, DECEIVER from a minimalist perspective using single origin sound, distorters and voice and SHREDDED NERVE weaving tape-loops with found object sources to bend circuits in our minds.
