The cool cats over at Deep Thoughts record store are starting a rad new monthly series – tentatively called “Last Thursdays” (but we’re sure they’ll think of something clever and catchy soon). This monthly event is a sort of brain exchange – artists and thinkers of different fields and communities come together to share their knowledge and talents.

Tonight’s inaugural event features a lecture, a film and (of course) a musical performance. Angela Sawyer – experimental musician, comedian, record store proprietor and all-around affable person – will be presenting a lecture on ‘things she knows nothing about.’ Then a screening of a new short film ‘Circles,’ a dreamlike snapshot of the city and its people made in 48 hours by local auteur Caroline Hubert and many of the folks from now-defunct Allston Wherehaus. Hubert and composer Andrew Pouty will be on hand to answer questions. Lastly, Alex Drewchin, the singer for Brooklyn based hippie shredders Guardian Alien, shares his shamanistic vocals and ritual electronics as Eartheater.

When you throw this combustible bunch of ingredients into the mixing bowl that is Deep Thoughts, you know’ll they’ll be some cerebral stimulation. Cross those hemispheres and make some connections and that spark of creativity may just catch fire.
